Toyota Expands Hybrid Offerings

Coming to the market in 2012, as Toyota announced, are six new hybrid models by the Japanese automaker. Of course, this excludes the upcoming Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid, as well as the Toyota Prius C. However, it is clear that Toyota has a goal to expand upon their existing hybrid developments.

Through Toyota's expansion in the hybrid sector, a number of the hybrids will be built using new technologies and entirely new models.  Toyota expects continued success with the new hybrids citing their recent gains in fuel economy, performance, design and public adoption.

Although there aren't many details being released by Toyota at the moment, we do know that the Japanese automaker plans to release these models under both their luxury brand, Lexus, as well as their flagship Toyota brand. Two new models will be under Lexus while the remaining four will be released under Toyota.

Armed with the ultimate goal of transitioning consumers from gasoline fueled rides to those that are 100% electric like the Toyota RAV4 EV and FT-EV City Car, Toyota does have their work cut out for them.
